The seal, reversed to form an imprint in wax, shows a pair of scissors along with the words WE PART TO MEET AGAIN, a hope and belief in future union. Because the scissors' blades literally "part to meet again", and, to extend the metaphor, the parting of the scissors' blades is usually brief, before they're closed again to safely conceal the blades.
