On the palate the black fruit again lacks liveliness & lift. Alcohol is balanced & there is a firm structure. The finish is of average length, but is thin & acidic. Aromas of cassis fruit & cedary oak have licorice overtones. The palate is closed at first and understated, opening to reveal a core of tary, bitter licorice fruit.
