We mostly see boro futon and work jackets - this textile is a fantastic example of the beauty of unintended art and a rather rare example of a boro textile

which would be presented as offerings to temples during important religious ceremonies or holidays

Tsutsugaki Furoshiki - "Three Friends of Winter" sakiori wave-like patternTraditional wrapping cloth decorated with tsutsugaki. The central crest depicts ivy and karabana flowers, and is surrounded on all sides with pine, plum, and bamboo. This pieces panels are hand stitched together and the corners have been reinforced with sashiko. Kanji is stitched into one of the corners, presumably the owner's name. Dimensions: 52. 5 x 56in; 133 x 142 cm Early 1900's
