I have had similar boxes with the 1931 date standard with use dates into the 1940's

staining and general wear

The can is not in great condition

and candies were sent to the front

I can say that it fits the typical WWII design

This is an older style, with the capacity marking on the front instead of by the handle. It is also a very odd increment of 0. 9 liter (usually they are in 1L, . 5L or 3 4L).
