and you get the very useful and standard Japanese style petty (utility) knife shape

you can add a 220 or 400 grit stone to speed up the initial edge cutting (or if you have a damaged knife which needs some serious grinding)

This is also my favourite paring knife shape -- I like this "spear point" shape more than the "bird's beak" or straight-edge "sheep's foot" shapes
