The firm was established in 1801 by Mary Barker and was continued by her son William Barker. The firm became Barker Bros. in 1885 and in 1907 became Barker Brothers Silversmiths Ltd., using the BBS tradename. In the 1960s they merged with Ellis & Co. and became Barker Ellis Silver Co. Ltd. They closed permanently in 1997. The knife rest is stamped
