The Knox logo on the inside of the hat is almost completely worn off (you can still see it if you look close enough - last two pictures)

They did make the identical case for many decades from well before the war till several decades after and there is no way to precisely date them

Original small aluminum container marked Heer

The leather seems fairly solid and is complete

I am sure it will be a great box for storing small personal items or rations for a while to come
