I did use this pack to carry a zelt and some other stuff around a show and I had basically no fear in using the leather

It seems to be working well and is in relatively good condition showing just minor wear from age and use

On one side it says "Einig und Stark" (united and strong) and on the other side, there is a cannon and the words "Durch Kraft Zum Sieg" (force to victory) 1914. It still has some of the silver finish, but a lot has worn through to the brass underneath.
