Since you only typically loaded every 5 round or so in an MG belt with tracer ammo they opted for packaging the tracers in an individual box where as more normal ammo would have been packed in a crate usually containing 5 boxes. The condition is not fantastic, but it is pretty typical for these boxes. The side wood typically shrinks and separates.
