WW1 German Wound Badge in Black – Verwundetenabzeichen 1918 (Combat Award) British female volunteer badge they have been broken offOriginal WW1 German Black Wound Badge (Verwundetenabzeichen), instituted on 3 March 1918 by Kaiser Wilhelm II. This decoration was awarded to soldiers of the Imperial German Army who were wounded in combat. The black grade was presented for 12 wounds. The badge features a steel helmet (Stahlhelm) over crossed swords, framed by an oak leaf wreath, all finished in blackened iron.
