The Taos is made from a dense and thick (10 12oz) Horween horsehide strip (the section that sits about the shell or butt of the horse hide). Cut at a true 1 " width, embossed with a vintage embossing pattern then hand stained, oiled, antiqued and hand buffed to give them a top shine. You just don't see belts made like this today.
