Ive caught hard-fighting coho salmon on entry-level reels, and even brought in a 23-inch brown trout on a tiny entry-level reel rated for super-light 3-weight fly rods
Add custom-made carbon side plates and the reel weighs a hair more than 5 ounces literally like a hair off your head more
I have a Ambassadeur 54 spinning reel bought new in the late '70s
Make parallel casts along the bank and work it in along by slowly reeling it back in
I like that I can see into most all of the storage areas without opening them up
